Resident Representative

Ms. Alexandra Solovieva

Since 23 of April 2019, Ms. Alexandra Solovieva assumed the office of the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Belarus. In this role she works to strengthen the strategic partnership between UNDP and Belarus within the UN system reform and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the country.

Until recently, Ms. Solovieva was leading external relations and public communications at the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) where she promoted innovative volunteer solutions as means of achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She has also led UNV’s five global programmes and regional offices across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean as the Chief Programme Coordinator.

Through her UNDP career, Ms. Solovieva held a number of appointments delivering and supporting large country programmes, policy, knowledge and project initiatives at the positions of a Deputy Country Director in India, Programme Specialist in Asia and the Pacific region, the Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s office in the Lao PDR.

Ms. Solovieva is a citizen of the Russian Federation and a graduate of Moscow State University (Russia) with a Master’s Degree in Oriental Studies as well as of the University of Colorado Denver (USA) with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She is married with two children and speaks Russian, English, and Lao.

Deputy Resident Representative Mr. Armen Martirosyan

Mr. Armen Martirosyan took office of the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Belarus in August 2020.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Martirosyan had contributed over 15 years on different positions at the UNDP Country Office in Armenia, ensuring coordination of the Environmental, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Sustainable Growth and Resilience portfolios, which also included dealing with the socio-economic dimension of the programme.

Before joining UNDP, Mr. Martirosyan worked for the Regional Environmental Center for the Caucasus (Tbilisi), served at the Armenian Red Cross Society, assisted at the programmes of German Technical Assistance (GIZ) and the EU TACIS.

Holding Masters’ Degree in Industrial Engineering (American University of Armenia), Mr. Martirosyan is also a fellow of John Smith Programme; finished courses of Central Eurasian Leadership Academy (Koch University, Istanbul) and Senior Executive Course with Harvard Kennedy School (Boston, USA).

Mr. Martirosyan is an Armenian national, married with two children. He speaks Armenian, Russian, English, and basic Georgian.
