Under this name, the results of the European Mobility Week (EMW) -2017, which was held with the information support of UNDP, were summed up in Minsk.

2017 has become a record year in terms of the number of Belarusian participants. With UNDP information support, 46 cities and towns in Belarus joined the European Mobility Week. Representatives of many cities - participants gathered at the final conference to share their experience of carrying out activities within the campaign.

"The whole logic of our cities’ development make us think how we arrange them and what they will be in 10-20 years. We are glad that in promoting sustainable mobility we found UNDP as a reliable partner", said Valery Borodenya, the chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Transport Workers, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

"We have worked fruitfully at the preparatory stage. Now it's time to share experience and most importantly to understand in which direction we should move forward”, said the “Green Cities” project manager Iryna Usava.

The participants of the seminar noted that uncontrolled motorization of the population has become a real threat to our planet causing the depletion of irreplaceable natural resources, the growth of harmful emissions into the atmosphere and, thus, climate change.

Participants of the event shared their vision of creating alternatives to a personal car.

The adopted resolution notes the need to develop cooperation between local authorities, the expert community and non-governmental organizations in order to jointly develop new tools for managing urban mobility based on the use of best foreign experience.

The event is organized by UNDP "Green Cities" project with the participation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Belarusian Transport Union
