Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus is heading for development of small business

Today the international business conference 'Innovations is the way to successful integration' started its work in Vitebsk. The representatives of business, local authorities and international organizations as well as foreign partners met in order to present high-end scientific developments and innovative projects in the sphere of entrepreneurship and to discuss the opportunities for enhancing cooperation and attracting foreign investments.

In his speech, Petr Arushanyants, the director of the Department for entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, reported about the work on preparation of legislative changes for simplification of conditions for small business. In particular, Mr Arushanyants spoke about considering the possibility of simplification of sanitary and fire safety control requirements, reduction of the list of licensed types of activities. Petr Arushanyants also mentioned the importance of cooperation with international development organizations for supporting small business development.

UNDP-RF project “Promotion of employment and self-employment of the population in small and medium-sized towns in the Republic of Belarus”, aimed at unemployment reduction and development of private entrepreneurship in small towns of Vitebsk and Mogilev oblasts of Belarus, also took part in the business conference. The project is funded by the Russian Federation and the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

“Small business is key to enhancing local employment and developing economy of the region. Taking this into account I would like to highlight the role of government in supporting local small businesses", – said project manager Marina Kalinouskaya.

The international business conference 'Innovations is the way to successful integration' takes place in Vitebsk from July 17 to July 19 during XXVI International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar”.
