126 initiatives will get 2,2 million Euro to deal with local development challenges

We are pleased to annouce that the assessment and approval procedure of the 352 applications received for the Main Contest of Local Initiatives within EU-UNDP project “Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus” has finished, and 126 local initiatives were selected as finalists. 

The € 2,2 million financial support from the European Union will be granted to local initiatives for strengthening the capacity of non-for-profit organizations, businesses and authorities to pioneer area-based development approach at the local level.

Local initiatives from 30 pilot districts reflect the challenges ranging from development of infrastructure and landscaping, social services and inclusion, extended and inclusive education, ensuring healthy lifestyle, through economic development and boosting employment, environment protection, to tourism potential and preservation of cultural and historical sites.

The project "Support to Local Development in the Republic of Belarus" is funded by the European Union, and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus.
