The progress of the Public-Private Partnership project in Belarus was discussed at the Ministry of Economy

On April 3, 2014 Sanaka Samarasinha, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus, attended the Project Steering Council (PSC) meeting of the joint EU/UNDP project “Capacity Development to Support the Implementation of Public–Private Partnership (PPP) in Belarus”. The project is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus. Nikolai Snopkov, the Minister of Economy and the National Project Coordinator, presided over the Project Steering Council meeting.  

The participants were updated on the PPP project progress and achievements. So, the project organized a press–launch for Belarusian mass media representatives on February 17, 2014, thus enhancing media capacity and awareness of PPP. A high–level study tour to Croatia was organized in early March to familiarize Belarusian policy–makers with European best practices, legislation, and PPP institutional set–up.

Alena Dadzerkina, PPP Project Manager, informed the participants about the upcoming “PPP Days in Belarus 2014”, which are scheduled for the last week of May.

Dzmitry Berazouski, PPP Focal Point from the Ministry of Economy, presented a newly created structure — PPP Unit. The participants of the PSC meeting discussed strategic issues related to the administrative operations, status, and role of the PPP Unit in Belarus.

Mr. Snopkov, the Minister of Economy, confirmed that the National PPP Unit is well–positioned to deliver its goals and objectives within the current government structure.
